I'm that depressed for the moment, I have to write this entry in English though. I'm not depressed because of the death of Charlton Heston - no, no, no ... no! I mean he was a bit of a strange character, obviously he was great in Ben Hur , but strange off the Hollywood business. No, surely I’m depressed because of the own goal by Richard Dunne of City against Chelsea in the Premier League. There was a sunny, cheerful beginning just before the referee’s first whistle: handshakes and coining with John Terry ; both had much to talk and it seemed to be very funny – laughs all over – and though I was laughing. But right after six minutes it was all gone: incoming cross from the right by Nicolas Anelka of Chelsea and Dunney in the middle wanted to block to a corner but missed a bit with his left foot to score past Joe Hart . It was a nice goal but at the wrong end of the pitch obviously. There was a good City performance later on, but Carlo Cudicini in the Chelsea goal saved on a few occasions, so it was Chelsea to score the second one, not City the equalizer. But I have some hopes now that there is some truth in the idiom history always repeats itself , because last season Dunney also scored an own goal at Wigan on the crucial 4-0 defeat but scored the winning goal against Middlesbrough one week later. It would be very nice!
Was there any other remarkable event on the weekend? Let me think about it for some seconds … NO, not the slightest. Just translated the whole two days from Ancient Greek into German, learning some phrases, reading around. And ... okay, there were two little remarkable occasions by the way: First, the broccoli-stew is very tasty and a good alternative to the stew, fennel, second: my neighbor Toni came round for the last thirty minutes of the City game. The lad is quite nice but it turned out, that he is a Man Utd supporter. Everybody has his small mistakes. But I work on it: maybe I can convert him to the right club Manchester.
